Woodstock High has 347 AP awards on the Cherokee County School District's 2026 list, the most of its six high schools, and 46 AP Capstone diplomas. School counts.

Woodstock High School has more students on the Cherokee County School District’s 2026 Advanced Placement honor list than any other high school in the county.

The district posted the list Monday. It counts 1,705 honorees across its six high schools, up from 1,500 a year ago. The awards cover current students and Class of 2026 graduates who did well on AP exams last school year, the district’s announcement said.

Woodstock High has 347 listings, by our count of the names the district published. That is nine more than Sequoyah High and 24 more than Etowah High. Its 46 AP Capstone diplomas are also the most of any school, ahead of River Ridge High with 36.

What it means for you

A score of 3 or higher on an AP exam can earn college credit at most state colleges and universities, the district said. That spares a family the tuition for those classes. The district says its high schools offer more than 30 AP courses.

Our Woodstock High page, the Etowah High page and the River Ridge High page carry each school’s contacts, attendance zones and report card figures.

How the awards work

The College Board’s AP Scholar awards come in three levels, the district said:

  • AP Scholar with Distinction: an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken, with 3 or higher on five or more
  • AP Scholar with Honor: an average of at least 3.25, with 3 or higher on four or more exams
  • AP Scholar: 3 or higher on three or more exams

AP Capstone is a two-year research program. The diploma needs scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research and on at least four other AP exams. Students who pass Seminar and Research without the four other exams earn the certificate instead. Only about 15,000 students nationwide earn the Capstone diploma each year, the district said.

A student can appear on the list twice, once for a Capstone award and once as an AP Scholar. The district’s list carries 1,704 listings by our count. We count about 1,523 different students across the six schools, including about 295 at Woodstock High. The district gives its total as 1,705 honorees.

We have not printed students’ names. The full list is on the district’s announcement. For more on local schools, see our Woodstock schools guide.
